In 1841 Philip (oil refiner) and Mary Jane were living at Vansittart House, Greenwich with a governess and two servants. [The History of Greenwich says On 12th July 1944 a V1 flying bomb glided into a terrace in Greenwich High Road (the former Vansittart Terrace, a handsome Georgian row, now replaced by the National Tyres site) and in a moment reduced nine houses to a pile of rubble.]

In 1851 Philip was a druggist and the family was living in 4 Sydney St, Stepney, with a governess and a servant.

After Philip’s death, Mary Jane returned to Scarborough.
