FATAL TRAM ACCIDENT.

Shortly after 3pm yesterday a woman named Maria Theresa Treweeke, aged 60, was crossing Pitt-street near the Strand Arcade when she was knocked down by a tram. She was conveyed by Constable Evans to Sydney Hospital, where Dr. Ambrose found her to be suffering from a fracture of the skull. She was in an unconscious condition when admitted, and died from the effects of her injuries at 9 o’clock last night. A steamer ticket from Melbourne was found in her possession.
