Assistant Cloth Worker. In the 1901 census, the 45-year-old Arthur (b. Stonehouse Glos., “woollen cloth manufacturer - employer”) appears with his 48-year-old wife Anne (b. Hawkesbury Upton, Gloucestershire), living at Hillsley Grange in the Parish of Thrupp (Stroud), very close to Brimscombe. Present were also his sons Gerald, 20, apprentice cloth manufacturer, Percy, 19, undergraduate at Cambridge, William, 17, apprentice cloth manufacturer, and 6-year-old daughter Margaret. (All the children were born at Brimscombe.) There were also three female servants: nurse, housemaid and cook.
